Volkswagen Adds Group Games to Its Electric Cars

Volkswagen has announced the addition of a range of group entertainment games to a number of its electric models, which can be operated using a mobile phone as a controller.

Volkswagen has teamed up with gaming platform AirConsole to bring the service to its ID.7, ID.5, ID.4 and ID.3 models, as well as the Passat, Tiguan, Golf and Golf Estate models.

The games are available on the car’s main display screen, and the driver and passengers can connect to them by scanning a QR code with their mobile phones. The games will only be available when the car is stationary, making them a fun way to pass the time while the EV is charging or waiting.

Volkswagen is set to start offering the service in select European markets by mid-September, with plans to later expand it to more games and markets.

BMW was the first to introduce this platform in its cars last year, while the automotive sector is witnessing a growing trend towards integrating gaming services, as Tesla did, which previously provided access to Steam Games In some of its models.
