STALKER 2 running at 25 FPS on Xbox Series S, game tuning underway

STALKER 2 is approaching its final release date after several delays, but it seems that the game is still facing a performance problem on the Xbox Series S.

This is what I admit. Slava Lukyanenko From the game development team at GSC Game World Studio during Private meeting About the final stages of the game production process and preparation for release.

Lukyaninka said that at this stage, the focus is on calibrating and tuning the game on the Xbox Series S in cooperation with the Xbox team, noting that the game suffers from problems in tuning the performance that stabilizes at 25 frames per second, as he said:

Well, our team is mature enough to take care of many aspects of the game themselves. However, the Xbox team knows best how Xbox performs and what is best to do in case we need to go deeper into the optimization process. The Microsoft team has visited us several times, and given us basic expertise on what else we can do that we haven’t thought of, it’s not over yet. Apart from Xbox Series X, we are still working on improving Xbox Series S. Things are going well, and the Xbox team is contributing a lot.

He added:

On Xbox Series X, we have two modes available. One is Performance mode, where STALKER 2 runs at 60 FPS and slightly different graphics than Quality mode, which looks absolutely stunning with all the high-res reflections and textures, but runs at 30 FPS. We’re trying to achieve a similar experience on Xbox Series S by combining these two approaches. So far, we’ve had 25 FPS on Xbox Series S, but we still have room for improvement.

STALKER 2 is scheduled to release on Xbox Series and PC on November 20, 2024, and will be available on Game Pass from day one.

According to documents revealed during the legal confrontation between Apple and Epic, the game will be exclusive to Xbox platforms for 3 months from the date of release. However, we have not received any confirmation or denial of this information, whether from the game developers at GSC Game World or from Microsoft.
