Apple postpones the launch of its foldable device until 2027 due to technical challenges

Apple has reportedly pushed back the release date of its first foldable device again to late 2027 or even 2028, after it was originally scheduled to launch in early 2026. This delay is due to technical challenges related to the display and mechanical components.

The upcoming device is expected to be a foldable MacBook with a screen size of up to 18.8 inches, and not an iPad as previously rumored.

Previous reports have suggested that Apple has scrapped plans for a larger device with a 20.25-inch screen.

LG is expected to be the sole supplier of the folding display, with the panel price estimated to be between $600 and $650, while the hinge price ranges between $200 and $250, putting the final price of the device at around $3,500.

It is noteworthy that foldable phones have witnessed rapid development over the past five years, while Apple has not yet entered this promising market.
