About 200 Google AI employees have called for an end to military contracts they see as inconsistent with the company’s values. The employees signed an internal letter sent to the company’s management, expressing their opposition to the use of their technology for military purposes.
The letter stressed that these contracts, which include agreements with the US and Israeli militaries, contradict Google's own ethical rules. The employees called on management Deep Mind To prevent artificial intelligence technology from reaching the military, and called for the formation of an internal committee to monitor the use of these technologies.
So far, Google has not issued an official response to the letter, but the company confirmed in a previous statement that it adheres to its ethical principles and that the agreements with the Israeli government are not related to the production of weapons or sensitive military operations.
