Twitch has announced changes to its subscription pricing for purchases made in its mobile app. Starting October 1, the price of Tier 1 and gifted subscriptions will increase to $8 per month, up from $6 per month. Prices for Tier 2 and Tier 3 subscriptions will remain unchanged.
Earlier this summer, the company announced an increase in the price of the entry-level subscription on PC in the United States, increasing from $5 to $6.
The biggest increase in mobile subscription costs appears to be a response to fees imposed by big tech companies for in-app purchases.
This particular issue has drawn these companies into antitrust litigation, leading them to reduce their commissions in some cases. Apple and Google have also adopted new fee structures in Europe in response to the Digital Markets Act.
