American teenager arrested for making 3D-printed weapons and trying to sell them!
US authorities have revealed exciting details in the case of the arrest of a 14-year-old teenager in Detroit, accused of making weapon parts using 3D printing technology.
According to a report from CBS NewsThe Detroit Police Organized Crime Unit, in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security, raided the teen's home on Wednesday, where they found evidence of an illegal gun-making operation.
The seizures included 3D printers, 12 pistol lowers, and five rifle lowers, all made with 3D printing technology. But the most dangerous item seized was a small piece called a “key,” which is used to convert Glock pistols into fully automatic weapons.
The teen now faces criminal weapons charges, and will likely face federal charges as well given the Department of Homeland Security's involvement in the investigation and arrest.

It is worth noting that making guns and their parts using 3D printing is generally not against the law in the United States, but the laws vary from state to state and depend on the specific parts being manufactured. However, printing them for the purpose of selling them can lead to serious legal consequences.
“It’s scary for everyone,” said Ryan Connor, commander of Detroit’s Organized Crime Unit. “Does someone at that age have the ability to know right from wrong? What are their intentions with these weapons? Do they have the maturity to do that?”
