Apple launches Mac mini M4 with a new design and pioneering performance
Apple launched the Mac mini M4 computer, in the first radical update to the device's design since 2010, making it the smallest desktop computer in the company's history.
The new computer comes in a similar size to the Apple TV 4K (5 x 5 inches), but it offers superior performance beyond the previous M2 version. Apple confirms that the device provides approximately 1.8 times faster performance in the central processor and 2.2 times in the graphics processor compared to the M1 version.
The M4 Pro model features 14 cores (10 for performance and 4 for efficiency) and a 20-core graphics processor, whose performance is twice as high as the base model. The Neural Engine is three times better than its M1 counterpart.
Technical specifications include:
- 120Gb/s Thunderbolt 5 ports on the Pro model
- RAM up to 64 GB
- Two front USB-C ports and three rear Thunderbolt ports
- Support for up to three 6K displays in the Pro model
This version is the first carbon-neutral Mac computer, as it uses 50% recycled materials, with a completely recycled aluminum chassis. Apple confirms that the device's carbon footprint has been reduced by 80%.
The device is available for pre-order at a price starting at $599 for the basic model and $1,399 for the Pro model, with its official launch on November 8.
The Magic Keyboard can be purchased for $99, the Magic Mouse for $79, and the Magic Trackpad for $129.
